Get Your “Bear”Ings: Bear Awareness Program

What's the 'paw'sibility of encountering a bear while hiking? In this program, our trained staff will teach you the proper behaviors and techniques to minimize the risk of a negative wildlife encounter. While bear spray should be a last resort, it's essential in the Canadian Rockies. You’ll get a chance to practice with inert bear spray, which is safe for you and others. By learning to use bear spray effectively, you'll feel confident to purchase and carry it, ideally never having to use it.
